Our mission at Run with Pride is to elect LGBTQ+ Democratic candidates to Congress. We believe that everyone should have the same opportunities to run for public office regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. From sitting officials to first time candidates, Run with Pride is dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ candidates running for Congress.
Run with Pride is a national political organization dedicated to electing LGBT Democratic candidates to U.S. Congress. Currently there are only 7 members of Congress who identify as LGBT, Run with Pride wants to help change that by giving LGBT candidates the help they need to win. We want every LGBT candidate to be proud of who they are and know they have support across the nation when running for office.
The organization was founded by a group of LGBT political staffers who recognized through their years of political experience how it can be uniquely challenging for LGBT candidates to run for Congress in certain areas of our country. They also understood the immediate need to pass federal legislation that provided basic protections from being fired or being denied housing, and that ensured full equality for LGBT Americans. So Run with Pride was founded, with the goal to advance national LGBT equality through legislation by electing LGBT people to be influential leaders for equality in Congress.
Run with Pride’s goal is simple, we want more LGBT candidates elected to Congress to give a voice to LGBT issues. We plan to do this by endorsing and supporting LGBT congressional candidates. To quality for an endorsement a candidate must identify as LGBT, support LGBT issues, and be running for congress as a Democrat. Run with Pride then works closely with our candidates to provide them with fundraising, operations, and communications support.
We can only achieve our goals with help from our amazing community. Your donations, volunteered time, and dedication is what keeps us going and we are truly thankful.
